Prep Inside an Occupied Building

The hard part of a healthcare floor is not the resin. It is doing aggressive concrete work in a building that never closes. Johnny grinds to a CSP 2 or CSP 3 profile the same as any other job, but here every grinder runs on shrouded heads tied to HEPA vacuums, the work zone gets hard barriers and negative air so nothing drifts toward patient rooms, and the crew works the hours your facility manager gives us rather than the hours that would be convenient for us. Old vinyl, old adhesive, and any soft topping come off completely. Cove base means grinding the wall line too, because the resin has to run up that wall and stop clean.

Moisture is the failure point nobody sees coming. A lot of California medical buildings sit on slabs poured in the sixties and seventies, and plenty of them were poured on grade with no vapor retarder underneath. Wash-down routines and constant mopping only add to what that slab holds. Johnny tests every room before he commits to a system, and where the relative humidity reads high he puts down a moisture-tolerant primer so vapor pressure has somewhere to go instead of lifting your floor off the deck a year later. Skipping that test in a hospital buys you a re-do in a wing you cannot afford to close twice.

Pour Sequence, Cure Windows, and Getting the Room Back

Work runs room by room or wing by wing on a phasing plan we set with your facilities team before anything starts. Each section gets primer, body coat, cove base formed by hand at the wall transition, and then the topcoat, with the seams between phases placed at doorways and thresholds where they are least visible and least likely to see standing water. Slip resistance is dialed in during the topcoat, with aggregate broadcast at the level your space calls for. A soiled utility room and an imaging suite do not get the same texture, and we do not pretend they should.

Polyaspartic topcoats do most of the heavy lifting on scheduling because they cure fast and hold their color under corridor lighting and window UV. Rooms usually take light foot traffic within about a day, with equipment carts and beds back after roughly forty eight to seventy two hours depending on the room temperature we are working in. Johnny gives your team the real number for each phase in writing so nobody rolls a five hundred pound imaging cart across a floor that is still coming up to hardness. When the last phase passes inspection you get the documentation package for your compliance file.
